Stock Trading: Between Analysis and Gambling? - Part I

At first glance, this post may be somewhat similar to the post I wrote here: Are Stocks Gambling? - Part I and Are Stocks Gambling? - Part II. However, this post will explain more deeply based on the existing reality, and from the philosophy of thinking of traders who have directly plunged into the world of stocks.

You and I would agree that when we treat stocks as a business on an analytical basis, they are not gambling. But, behind what you think all this time, it turns out that many stock players think that playing stocks is GAMBLING. Oh, why?

I wrote this post because I had a chance to meet a colleague who works in the stock sector. From the conversation about stocks, I was quite surprised because the colleague (who had quite a bit of experience in the stock market), frankly said:

"Stocks are actually gambling. We look for profits that we can't see at all and rely a lot on the luck factor." Those are the words of most people, who are even stock players.

Many people say stocks are gambling because there are (many) lucky factors too. Yes, that's a fact. I agree that playing with stocks actually has a lucky factor as well. I mean, when trading stocks, you and I will never even know what will happen to the stock you hold an hour later, one day later, a week later.

Who knows if your stock will go up tens of percent tomorrow without you guessing, and on the contrary it will go down a lot without you guessing. However, something more important you should know: No one can predict the future.

You open a travel business, it turns out that a few months later your business is selling well, you don't even expect it. Would you say that the travel business is gambling? I do not think so.

So, how's Bung Heze? Are stocks gambling? Or..... Want to know the answer? Continue reading this article: Stock Trading: Between Analysis and Gambling? - Part II
